I've been using one for over 15 years. I couldn't live without it. Mine is an APAP, and starts off at 9, but is set to move between 8 and 20. I've awakened to see it as high as 14. I recently switched to a full face mask; o wish I'd done that 15 years ago.

I would not be here today without it. I use to feel as if I was drowning in my sleep and I could not move.

When I would be on low does of gear. My hemoglobin would be way high as if I was cycling hard for a year without a break. I asked my doctor if this issue with me not getting air at night had anything to do with it. He said no , come off my trt. I have endo doctor in Israel. She said without a doubt it is what is causing my high hemoglobin. She said it's basic for even a family doctor to know this causes of high hemoglobin.

But it's a life saver. It's never perfect. Because it will annoy you and loosen and bug the hell out of you some nights. But regroup and put it back on. I know lot of powerlifers died in their sleep abroad. Not to mention, their wives don't sleep in the same bedroom. Due to the snoring. It's worth it. Great topic and awareness post. Keep this running. Never know who's life you have save or saved . Sleep Apena Awareness is everyday

Love this thread!! My wife as well has been on me to get a cpap…. However I’m very hesitant as I have a cdl. Even though I don’t use it I know if I ever go commercial again they will want the ol thumb drive.

I have been looking for a website to buy one without a script to go around that but haven’t been successful.

Is it that life changing. Also I need one for travel on an airplane my last flight was like 16 hours and I know I pissed off the people In front of me with my snoring.

It does make a difference but you have to get used to it. Are you concerned the thumb drive will show that you are not getting the required hours of sleep per night?
I remember a while back someone posting in a forum (sorry don't remember which one) that there are places you can buy CPAPs without a script. The problem with that though is that you have to constantly replace cushions and filters and tubing so I don't know how that would be sustainable long term and it would be quite expensive.

You should also get a sleep study. Doctor will adjust the air flow to fit you. Bunch of guys bought on Amazon, Ebay without a script. Headaches gone, no foggy brain, short term memory is better then it was. Just thinking. If these things are clearing up for them , it's a good thing.

What do you like better about the full face mask? I'm using a nasal mask right now but wondering what I might be missing out on.

Does anybody have any tricks for keeping your face from getting red due to the mask? Every morning when I wake up I look like a clown for several hours.

I went for a sleep test about 5 years ago due to snoring bothering my wife. I had an incredibly poor test result of an apnea episode amost every MINUTE. Have virtually no episodes now, but oddly enough I didn't feel bad before and I don't feel different now. But I intend to use it forever for health and the snoring.

It made a huge difference for me. I have severe sleep apnea 56 incidents per hour. Regular use of a CPAP can ad 8 years to your life if you have severe sleep apnea according to studies.

In addition to my nightstand CPAP I bought a portable battery powered CPAP that I use for hunting and long flights.

what is the API now with the CPAP? Sometimes depending on what I have taken I have seen it crawl up to 30s but not often. I pretty much average between 8 and 15.

I haven't downloaded my CPAP data in years. May have to do that and see what my score is. It was pretty low with the cpap.

No. I have an old Resmed CPAP. It has the large SD card that you remove and have to put into a computer.

Insurance only pays for half of the cpap and it still works so haven't upgraded.

Lucky. I had one for like 13 years. Since then Ive had 3. They dont seem to last as long anymore. Each time you get a new one you have to make the payments for a while. Although the last one only worked correctly for like 6 months so they replaced at no cost.

I use one. Took me months to get used to it. Even now if I wake up in the middle of the night I can't leave it on and fall back asleep. I do feel it has helped quite a bit though. Without it I can sometimes really snore a lot!

This might sound weird but I actually look forward to sleeping with mine now. Something soothing about the breathing pattern I’ve settled into. Took a while to get to this point but it is worth it.
