I have seen many bomb out on squat because of it!

I have seen geared lifters suits and shirts become too big, especially shirt sleeves.

I've cut over 35lbs in the last six months. I broke out my XXL Slingshot a couple weeks ago for a heavy single and felt like it only gave me like 10lbs. I could see that being a bad deal for a guy in a loose squat suit. Just end up getting stapled.

More so a shirt, sleeves play a major role the biggest IMO, then chest plate.

If both those are big you're in trouble, loose sleeves have shown to be worse.

Wow, a lot of great info guys, much appreciated!
Definitely not trying to cut weight, at least not this one, just kinda watching my weight closely.

Other than this, I'm also trying to get my sleep in order. I usually don't get home from work until 3 am and go to sleep between 4 and 5 am. Gonna take the day off work before weigh in and see if that helps

You work nights too? That's about when I get off on Friday technically Saturday morning. I'd have to take Friday off to do a Saturday meet. Last one I did was on Sunday. I got up early on Saturday and then Saturday night took Benadryl and melatonin to knock out early. Wasn't really as bad as I thought it would be switching back for that day. No effect on strength on meet day that I could tell.

Yeah it can be a pain when the world works around a day schedule lol. Luckily I work Sundays through Thursday and the meet is on Saturday.
I'll give the benadryl and melatonin a try, thanks.

Benadryl leaves me feeling groggy when I wake up, so it's a last resort. I've fully embraced the night schedule since starting this job though, so needed it to quickly switch back. Normally keep to being up nights on weekends, holidays, vacations, everything for consistency of sleep.

I've witnessed this many times myself. I've also seen an over compensation in weight. Yeah, you cut 15lbs to make the 198s but you added back 20 and now you can't hit depth or touch anything!

Mark Bells career ended this way, couldn't fit in his suit but somehow they got it on him.

We know about tight, hanging upside down and teammates helping one get in gear but Mark was so tight he couldn't keep his knees out.

Are you talking about when he dumped 1080?

Yeah he last meet that destroyed his knee.

After that he basically believed he done all he could do and wasn't going to beat more numbers.

Like Hoss, walked out that 1025 single ply with a whipping bar taking forever to walk it out waiting for the bar to stop whipping each step, was his last big number.

I miss Big Hoss. He used to come train at my gym occassionally before Mark got Supertraining up and running.

I was standing front row when he walked that out, Marcus and I just about shit ourselves watching him walk that out as the bar looked like it wanted to snap.

This is why I just don’t understand why anyone would want to walk out a squat and use a standard 7ft bar. Why risk injury or even your lifting career doing this? Use a damn mono and a squat bar. Look at what happened to Blaine after he nearly stumbled with 1135. Broke his back and has t been able to squat in 2 years.

Hoss was just a different animal though. He probably liked it lol.

Walking out heavy weight is definitely dangerous. It's certainly going to be one of the limiting factors in the amount of weight someone squats.

I was always just on the upper end of my weight class but never that close. Make the weigh-in the night before and eat normal. Don't run out to PizzaHut and eat a whole meatlovers deep dish just because you made weight; there's no trophy for making weight. lol Plus if you miss the 24 hr one, you're stuck with the day of weigh-in.

Coffee can get your guts moving in the morning so be careful. If you always have it, do it because you don't want a coffee withdraw headache.
Been through something similar , was a play off game and we stopped at I-Hop for the pregame meal for what ever fkn reason i got just a normal small breakfast , couple eggs toast coffee ,, guys were hoopin n hollering , acting out ordering all this stupid sugary shit , pouring all this crazy flavored syrup on stuff and joking about carb loading ... by half way through the first quarter I bet 5 of them had puked their guts out on the sidelines and werent worth a sack of wet hair for the rest of the damn game.
