MRI

Impression

Small joint effusion right index MCP with abundant bone marrow edema of the head
of the metacarpal and base of the proximal phalanx. Nonspecific imaging findings
that are presumably arthropathic, without discrete erosions or findings of
tenosynovitis.

Otherwise negative imaging findings of the surveyed left hand/wrist for
inflammatory arthropathy.

It’s my left hand been having issues with it for many months now can’t even make a fist with it really limits me with my workouts. Have my follow up apt wends but wanna see if i can get some info here.

@BRICKS your in the med field lol

Translation:
There is some fluid buildup in the joint of the left index finger that's causing swelling, and the bones in that area also show signs of inflammation. There are no clear signs of any specific joint or tendon problems. The imaging test of the left hand/wrist did not find any signs of inflammation or joint disease.

Did you injur your hand or just wear and tear? What kind of work are you doing with your hands. Repetitive stuff? Pain all the time or when you do certain things and describe the pain. Reason I ask for sspecifics is I can run this by the ortho surgeon I'm working with tomorrow and /or Tuesday, maybe get you some more info.

Ok Bobby, read your posts to the ortho surgeon im working with pretty much all week. He said one joint shouldn't limit your whole hand from closing and he would proabably run some tests for RA (rheumatoid arthritis). Otherwise gonna be heat, range of motion exercises and antiinflammatories. You should see an orthopedic doc with this MRI and go from there. Hopefully it's not the start of RA. Keep me posted.

I feel your pain man. I have psoriatic arthritis which is virtually the same as RA. First issue was on a toe and they injected it and it went away. Then my index finger they injected that with a steroid and it went away (my finger is crooked for life but I can use it just fine). Right now it is with my right elbow, they gave me 1 injection in the elbow, 1 in the glute and one in the delt. The pain is still there but not near as bad, I however am afraid I will never be able to fully straighten my arm again. I would say it has about a 5-8 degree bend even if I have 150# dumbbell in that hand. I might add that when the finger and the elbow flare-up occured I was already on a biologic that is for Psoriasis, Psoriatic Arthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis and I still had the flare-up. They have added methotrexate back into the mix now.

I would go to a rheumatologist asap and get the injections done before any permanent deformations happen to the joints. They may also put you on a maintenance medication.
