I'm new here, clearly, and happy to be here. There are so many contributing members, topics and I'm looking forward to learning a lot.

I'm 41, 6'5, 355 not all fat but too much, finally getting back into consistent workouts, watching my diet and enjoying seeing the results. Reminds me why I used to put in countless hours in the gym.

Don't want to go on too much here since I'm just a newbie. Thanks for having me

Welcome big man. Any past competitive experience?
Thanks Trendkill. No competitive bodybuilding or power lifting experience. I was a shot putter in college and put on most of my muscle foundation with cleans, push presses, squats and bent over rows, the last not sport specific lol but who doesn't like heavy rows, besides Dorian's workouts made back my favorite for a while. Then I did my bodybuilding workouts the rest of the time up until my early 30s. Fittest and strongest I weighed 285 and strongest bulk I was around 330.

I lost a few years to poor decisions, not prioritizing the gym and not taking care of myself. Now I have to work harder and smarter then I did when I was younger as we all do but the mind muscle connection is a lot better for me now.

I would think about some amateur physique competition but I have a ways to go. I plan to put up a training log in a few months to push myself and document my progress.

Do you compete?

Dorian had the same effect on me when I was younger. I did reverse grip bent over rows for about 7 years non stop.

I competed in powerlifting awhile back and did a few amateur strongman shows along the way. Have not competed since 2006 but I loved every minute of it. Anytime I see a big man such as yourself I'm always interested if there was a competitive background in strength sports. Interested in anyone that has competed honestly but the big height and bodyweight really peak my curiosity.

Yeah, Dorian was awesome. I remember carrying around a copy of Flex with his back workout in it for most of my junior year in HS. It was almost enough to stop me from focusing purely on bench lol

Good for you bro for getting out there and doing it, I admire strength athletes, I had some good overall strength but I didn't really excel in any lift proportionate to my size. Bench I stayed in the low 400s, squat and deadlift were better but like Arnold said long arms long legs take more time to get strong, paraphrased

Welcome to the Underground brother. There are a heap of us over 40 around here. But we aren't on the scrap heap yet; at least not entirely. Stick around.
