both. if i start putting fat on i'm gunna do a quick cut then
That's very counter productive. People are not gaining 2lbs of muscle per week. That's 8lbs in a month, and 104lbs in a year. Does that make sense to you?

Should be aiming for somewhere between 0.5 and 1lb per week. Even 1lb a week is 52lbs. Do you think that's all going to be muscle? No of course not, but the amount of fat gained on that cut is far more manageable.

If you do 1-2lbs per week, then I promise you that you won't be using a mini-cut to shave off that fat.

I'm not beating up on you... just trying to paint a picture. You're an adult and can obviously make your own decisions. I was just hoping to steer you in a direction that would maximize the amount of muscle you might gain vs fat you'd have to cut later.

Good luck bro.

I'd suggest if you start gaining more fat than is acceptable, don't do a quick cut, rather dial your Cals back to your estimated maintenence level and continue on trying to grow.

The excess fat is stored calories that your body can use for growing. If you go into a hard, quick cut, I fear you'll halt the growing process entirely, especially with much less energy available for your workouts.

Recomp after you just started a mass gaining phase? Why not just lower calories like suggested before, and then slowly add them over time untill you're gaining 0.5lbs - 1lbs per week?

Also, it's normal to lose some definition while in a mass gain phase. So are you sure you're gaining fat, or is it that you're filling out from previously being carb depleted and now adding carbs back into your diet?

i think it's fat. ive been getting my 450g protein in but havent been limitting my carbs as much as I should. think i gave myself an eating disorder on the cut or something, I'll go to eat one bite of something and eat the whole container then hate myself 🤣 I'm not gunna buy anything tempting like that so it wont happen next week then we'll see what to do at the end of the week

Get out of your own head dude. Based upon the red pants pic in your alleyway glamor shots photo shoot, you're a loonnnnnng way from being sloppy enough for a recomp.

I'd continue on with the growth phase if I were you.

What are your macros/Cals right now? (I don't want to scroll to find them)

What's been your rate of bodyweight gain?

Val,
I've stayed out of here for the most part and just lurked, don't worry I'm not here to shit on you.

From the time you joined it seems like the biggest things you've missed is consistency.
Whether that be diet, training or what have you.

You've been changing direction like crazy and it's completely hindered your progress.

I know you're going to do whatever it is you think is right and best, but I genuinely think you just need a year of just eating and lifting to grow.
You seem to get so caught up in body fat and recomp and everything and it just keeps your wheels spinning.

Not to toot my own horn but I've been consistently eating and lifting for growth for the last 15 months or so now and I'm up nearly 50 lbs with minimal body fat increase.

Something like that would give you such a better foundation and more stability for the future of your physique than bouncing around and losing focus of your goals.

If you have never achieved what he has achieved your opinion on what he does is irrelevant.

Allow him to progress in his own way.

I wouldn't describe his last 9 months as wheel spinning.

I'm going to say this with zero intention of flaming or starting shit, but politely that's an awfully ignorant statement.

I honestly love val, I think he's an awesome dude but I'll take my body any day of the week over his.
He's taken more drugs and wasted more time and has essentially done very little with his body in the last few years in terms of growth and progression.

I am not taking away from what he has done and what his body looks like, but I'd love for you to go back and read his old log with his old dosages and tell me if you think his body reflects those.
He was on what 2-3g of gear for I think it was damn near a year and couldn't break past 200 or 210 lbs?

You should get all the info before posting something silly.

Again, not an attack on val. I'm simply stating facts and I'd be hard pressed to believe anyone who's actually informed of his history here would disagree with me.
