Both sides say ridiculous shit, I'm not taking sides.
One side isn't talking about eating pets, or doubling down on other bullshit you'd only see in the tabloids in the grocery store check out. 🤷‍♂️

Both sides are ridiculous, but the lengths at which they go to be ridiculous are not the same 😅

You would think that after the catastrophic failure of the USSS in Pennsylvania a few weeks ago, they would make the security of both candidates their highest priority. You can't tell me they are hiring and promoting the most qualified people.

DEI at its best if you ask me. I can't imagine how bad things could get if one of them were assassinated.

This is Bush league bullshit mistakes.

As far as i've heard , he was spotted by the advance team and they routed him .. at no time was Trump in danger of being shot at and this guy never fired a shot.

So no one was hurt , they caught the guy .... seems like they did an ok job this time.

And if we really want to talk about hoist with your own petard ... let's not forget this guy was previously diagnosed as mentally ill ,,,

One of the laws Trump repealed to help out his NRA donners would of kept this guy from being able to purchase any firearms. There is even a pic of him holding it up with a giant smile when he signed the new shit in and the existing one out. :ROFLMAO:

The first time someone got 150 yards from the former president. This time 400 yards. There is no excuse for these mistakes.

An argument could be made that Trump should be harder to assassinate.

Both times it was the guys behind the trigger where amateurs. His security is pathetic, and that is being generous. A trained marksman could make 2 easy head shots at that range.

Some could construe this security lapse as intentional, and we need this at this time like we need a hole in the head.

Are you saying that only white guys should guard Trump from here on our?

I didn't read anything like that into what he wrote. However, watching the video from the first attempt, I saw two female agents. One could not holster her firearm and was literally obese. The other was messing with her sunglasses.

Now before you jump on me about women, I have no doubt a woman could do the job well. I suspect that very few qualified women applied, and in a quest to reach the former director's goal of having the agents be 30% female, they lowered the standards where women are concerned. That's DEI.

Yes and no. Some agents did a fine job. They also got lucky when a bystander managed to act quickly and get a picture of the getaway vehicle and it's plate.

I watched the press conference this afternoon, presented by the USSS Acting Director, a US Attorney an FBI agent and local law enforcement.

There was a lot of self congratulating. The USSS Acting Director made a big point to list the assets they had deployed, including air assets, counter snipers and others. He said the area was searched by agents using dogs prior to Trump starting his game. They also said they tracked the suspect's cell data and that he had been waiting in that spot for 12 hours.

Sadly, no reporter asked the obvious question, something like "Mr. Director, given you had asserts including man power in the form of USSS agents, dogs, local PD and air support, how was this man able to hide in that spot for 12 hours undetected?"

Further, it is apparent that USSS agents could not pursue the suspect when he fled because he was on the other side of a chain link fence. There were no agents outside that fence. Had it not been for the bystander, the guy would probably made a clean getaway.

Which law was that?

Regardless, "this guy" is a convicted felon. As such, he should not have been sold a firearm, or possessed a firearm. Further, the serial number on the SKS rifle had been obliterated, so it is illegal for anyone to sell, buy or possess that firearm. Today, he was arraigned on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and receiving and possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

I'm sure more charges will be coming, but these felony charges let law enforcement hold him while they keep investigating. FBI today, at that same presser, said the man had invoked his right to remain silent and requested an attorney.

Like this is maine and even during hunting season if you're walking right through town with your rifle n all , you are going to get a few odd looks , local constable might even ask you if ya broke down and need a ride just to see if you're in the right head ,, cus you should know better even if it is "legal"

So I'm pretty active in the firearm rights community, and I'm not familiar with this. I read the article and noted:

The GOP-majority Senate passed the bill by a 57-43 margin earlier this month, following a House vote to overturn the rule.

I don't recall that the GOP ever had a 57 seat advantage in the Senate while Trump was President.

I'll see if I can find more on this; I don't consider NPR an objective news outlet. I'm very interested to know what type of financial mismanagement would cost people their right to possess a firearm. I gather from the article that whatever it was, it was not a crime. We don't generally deprive people of their rights for non-violent non-crimes, nor should we.

In most states its legal to carry a long gun in public. In fact, in a large majority of states it's legal to carry a concealed handgun without a permit.

I would be shocked if USSS or any law enforcement encountered someone carrying a rifle in the vicinity of a protected person, they would just say "oh he's probably just walking to a range." I would bet good money there is no rifle range within walking distance of that golf course.
