I have to agree, that act was probably not the best idea. I didn't see it, so I have to ask... What other groups, if any, did the comic make fun of? I tend to doubt it was just PR.
any one brown ,, pointed out a black dude in the crowed and made fun of his clothes ,, then made a joke about him really being his friend and how they carved watermelons for halloween .... just WTF

1935 Sinclair Lewis “ When fascism arrives in America, it will be clothed in a flag and carrying a bible”.

He was 100% spot on.

A bit of research on this guy quickly shows that his specialty, and what he is known for, is roast comedy. He has participated one way or another in the roasts of Tom Brady, Snoop Dogg, Justin Bieber and others. Those tend to be pretty raw and this guy is an equal opportunity offender; he makes fun of everyone and has a long history of doing so. That's what happens at a roast.

I have seen a few roasts, you need to have a thick skin, which is something Americans don't have anymore. That said, was this a great idea for a political rally that was going to receive international attention? I probably would not have decided to feature such a comedian, but Trump is a different kind of guy. That is, if he even knew about this guy performing.

Or maybe it was deliberate, not so much to offend people but to poke the left and get them all riled up. Trump and his team absolutely love to poke the left, and they are quite good at it. The left, for their part, is pretty easily poked and if that was their plan, well apparently it worked.

As I said earlier, the cake is pretty much baked; not many votes are moving. From your posts, you @Yano were not supporting Trump anyhow, so if you're like most people who oppose Trump, you'll be jumping up and down screaming about how this is just one more example of how Trump is going to somehow become the first American dictator and then enslave the entire world.

Those who support Trump will dismiss this as just comedy that was in poor taste and not a big deal. And that is probably closer to the truth then the other extreme, although I do agree that going out of your way to offend people in a political campaign is not a fantastic idea. Hillary probably lost with her "basket of deplorables" comment.

My mom's Jamaican , that wasn't a "roast" it was racism.

I voted for Trump once and quickly became disappointed when all he did was brag , lie and play golf. Wrote in Romney / Cheney last election , been a Republican all my life , I just cant bring myself to vote for a man I wouldn't allow in my home or to sit at my dinner table for a meal.

I wanted to see Harris pick a Republican and have mentioned it a few times , I personally thought her and Liz Cheney if they set aside differences would of been a hell of a ticket.

Not due to policies but it would of shown an open and predetermined willingness to work across the aisle more than just stump speeches or endorsements.

I don't like all Harris's policies , or some of her past. If she wins , at least she's not batshit crazy in a diaper screaming about people eating dogs haahahaha.

OK This isn't so much a negative Trump post for me or pro any one else post for that matter.

This is a ,, Is you really that stupid ? .. post.

Trumps rally tonight is in New York at MSG , he had a comic "warm up" the crowd for him .. now mind you this is NYC , home to the National Puerto Rican Day parade attended by over a million people every year.

Is this really the type of humor you want on display ? We can already see the fall out from it all over the place popping up.

That sounds like kill Tony, if it is he doesn't give a shit about political correctness and he fucks with everybody. Sometimes I think people read too much into comedians. I would never watch a woke or politically correct comedian either they just aren't funny

I won't say it was racism, but it was sure stupid. The Trump campaign has already disavowed it. Trump should probably issue an apology, because its the right thing to do, not because it would make any difference. One flaw of Trump is he never apologizes for anything when he should. The last thing Trump needs is an unforced error at this point, but there it is.

I think it comes down to who this rally was for. It was for his base, and they seemed to have loved it.

The downside for Trump is that this rally seemed to turn off a lot of last minute swing voters.

I saw them "disavow" it.

I'll put that down in the Schrödinger category lol ,, if they laugh it was a joke , if they object it was misunderstood.

Historical value as well , it oddly coincides with an American nazi party rally held there in 1939. I think some of his team like Stephen "Himmler" Miller or one of the other brown shirts did that on purpose. Just my humble opinion mind you.

I forgot all about that rally.

I know the MyPillow guy has been accused of some Nazi imagery lately.

That's Tony Hinchfliff! He hosts "kill tony" and was one of the original writes for the comedy central roast series.
Kill Tony was a side show at the comedy store, became a national touring act, then international, he got tapped for the Tom Brady roast, and recently sold both nights of kill tony's madison square garden show.
I have a hard time believing anyone is truly offended considering he sells out premium priced tickets in the most liberal cities in America.

LOL, other than the fact it was political and held at MSG, what similarities were there with the NAZI rally from 85 years ago? When Bill Clinton had a rally there in 1992, was that also a reenactment of the NAZI rally?

Pretty much every Republican Presidential candidate since Barry Goldwater has been called a NAZI and accused of being a fascist. Even John McCain and Mitt Romney. When Reagan was President it was constant. Then they tried it with George HW Bush. Its a tactic; they don't really believe it, but they want you to believe it. Just today a Democrat super-pac said that Harris needs to stop that line of attack because it's not effective. And tell me, if you think Trump or any American President can morph into a dictator, tell me how. Be specific.

Which party is it that behaves like fascists? Let's see, which party sued to keep Trump, Stein and Kennedy off ballots? which party uses the Dept of Justice to prosecute it's political opponents and the people who work for him? Which party conducted "hearings" and an "investigation" into January 6th, released a report but then destroyed all the "evidence" they had collected? Which candidate has complained about Elon's speech "privilege" on Twitter and advocated regulating it? Which President ignores the Supreme Court and creates illegal student loan handouts? Which administration created an agency to police "misinformation" on social media? Which party tampered with their primary to support their incumbent? And then, which party removed the candidate who won their primary and replaced him with someone that not a single primary voter cast a vote for? In the states, which governors closed churches and synagogues during covid, but left liquor stores and strip clubs open?

If there is a "danger to democracy" I don't think it's Trump.

I have a hard time believing anyone is truly offended considering he sells out premium priced tickets in the most liberal cities in America.
People are offended when its convenient to be offended, or when the jokes are taken out of context and misrepresented as something other than what they originally were.

If we were talking in person I would ask you exactly what a "fascist" is, so that you can't Google it. But you clearly have no idea.

I love how they both keep coming up with ways to help the little guy now and draw in more voters, like eliminating taxes on tips, 1st responders.

Like wtf y'all never talk about this shit until the election is down to the wire and you both have a good chance to lose.

Now all of a sudden they are acting like they want to help people.
I'm a sucker for that shit, JD Vance just had to mention making houses affordable for me to forgive his eyeliner.

To hold on to power, a fascist must do at least three things: (1) disarm the populace. (2) outlaw religion. (3) Control public discourse and speech.

Trump will do none of these. Harris has, repeatedly, advocated confiscating firearms. She has complained about how Elon uses his "free speech privilege" and advocated restrictions on it. The Biden / Harris administration created an agency to police "misinformation." Finally Harris is well known to hate Christians, especially Catholics.

Neither of them is a fascist, but Harris is one hell of a lot closer than Trump. But @Yano there is a bright side for you to a Trump victory should he win; your 1st sand 2nd Amendment rights will be safe. That's not true if Harris wins.

I agree with you on this.

That was BS and has no place in the United States.

Finally Harris is well known to hate Christians, especially Catholics.

What did I miss with this?

I've had family tell me this same thing, but have yet to actually see it.

Does Kamala Harris agree with the Catholic position on abortion?

No.

Does that mean she hates Catholics?

NO.

Remember: Joe Biden is Catholic! But I guess that doesn't matter to the people who also say Kamala is a Jew-hater - despite the fact that she is married to a Jew!
