I'm still pretty new and looking for some answers, does drinking alcohol really effect what your workouts give back to you or effect gains and or losses? Do bodybuilders stay away or do they do so in certain periods of their cycle or what? Will you gan extra fat and protein syneyhis slow down or what is yalls experience with this topic?

Everything in moderation. Some 200 lb guy wants to have three beers on a Friday night, it's not going to affect you. You decide you want to knock down two six packs, that's not going to go well.

Alcohol on cycle is just a bad idea, especially if you're taking orals.

So this one has me curious. What is the effect alcohol has while on cycle? Is the problem with orals due to alcohol taxing the liver? What if you're not on orals?
I drink one shot of vodka per day. There are even days I don't.
I'm not trying to be a wise ass, I just honestly want to know the consequences. Thanks.

Alcohol makes me tired, so my workouts suffer no matter what.

I have one vodka and diet cranberry juice in my office around 5pm, I don't get to work out until around 9:30 or 10pm, so any minimal effect it might have on me is out of my system by then. I would imagine excessive consumption would affect workouts as it would many other facets of life.

Alcohol is a poison to the body. The ideal amount is zero.

Now I understand that that's not the world that we live in, but it's the truth.

CJ is right. Guys get all wrapped up and nitpick training and diet, hormones and supplements, the fk would you want to consume any alcohol. As CJ said there us no amount of alcohol that is good for you, yes it is toxic. I know this first hand. If you "must" have your alcohol daily then I submit to you that you're either A) not truly dedicated to attaining your bodybuilding goals and/or B) you have a bigger problem than will alcohol affect my gains.

Now, don't get me wrong, I neither condone nor condemn drinking alcohol. People are gonna do what they do. Just don't complain about the consequences of either choice.

Short answer to your question: yeah, alcohol affects your progress, and no amount is good for you. But if you're having and are concerned about your daily drink of vodka, at your level of commitment I doubt you will notice a difference. Not getting nasty, just honest.

I'm not taking your reply as nasty, and I appreciate your honest opinion. I added my experiences to the thread and am open to constructive criticism. Thank you.

But...

Why?
Sometimes I wonder why myself. I had periods in my life where I struggled a bit with alcohol. Not to stereotype, but this is a problem on the Irish side of my family.
At times it takes the edge off. Other times I feel a bit of a sense of triumph that I can have only one and not crave more. I've battled OCD and have a tendency to take some things a bit too far.

That's a fairly low bar, though

Alcohol is an absolutely trash drug.
