So according to google im stage 2 hypertension. I’m gonna be honest ive haven’t monitored my bp since last cycle which was over 6 months ago and it stayed under 130 at rest, at that point. Currently almost a month into a cycle and just recently started checking after a little issue I had, from then I’ve been checking multiple times daily. If I check first thing in the morning then I’m around 120 give or take. After work, at home, resting I usually stay between 145-155 and 85-95.
Had a couple jumps up to 168/98 but that’s highest so far. Also have two separate monitors, both arm cuffs. Bought one of Amazon, then read a post CJ was promoting omron so bought one of those as well. All reading roughly the same. So my question is should I be alarmed? And should I just keep an eye on it until after cycle and base a decision from there. I’m 38 204 pounds roughly 15%bf. Very active, workout 6 days a week and do construction. My phone averages 10,000 steps a day. Thanks for any help

Yes, you should be alarmed, high blood pressure is probably the worst side effect from gear for your heart/organ health. It damages the kidneys, and it will (not can) cause a host of heart issues if left unchecked for long.

My recommendation would be to get a doctor that you can be honest with about what you're doing, that will write you something to manage your blood pressure *or* don't take gear that messes with your blood pressure.

Another benefit of getting a doctor you can be honest with is they can order bloodwork for you so that you can monitor other important biomarkers that gear affects (hematocrit, liver and kidney functions, cholesterol, etc).

I get worried when my top number goes above 130 and bottom number above 90. I manage my blood pressure with meds. I usually stay around 115-120/75-80.

I would not allow anywhere near those type of pressures for any length of time. "IIn general for most people" the lower the pressure as long as there are no symptoms the better for longevity as less damage is being done. High blood pressure as well as high glucose levels are 2 factors that help cause some of the biggest killer of men.

I only pay attention to BP readings first thing on the morning, or slightly later of one experiences the Dawn Effect. The Dawn Effect is an artificially high reading upon waking, and some people need a little time for their bodies to return to homeostasis.

I’ve run high BP my entire life. It was high when I was a 155lbs runner. It’s high now that I’m 215. I don’t drink, smoke, eat mostly clean. Mine is genetic and a byproduct of a stressful career. All my other markers are good, I echo @CohibaRobusto about getting a good doctor to keep you in check.

Don't talk yourself into everything's ok because it will be until it not.

Like CJ said, test it first thing in the morning. Now if for some reason you're running high during the day, still get it addressed. 140/90 at rest during the day will still cause issues.

I take a low dose BP and my morning can come in at 110/65. I asked my cardiologist about it being too low. He said, providing your not getting light headed during your activities, that's not too low.

Which meds?
What I take isn't the norm, it's entresto, which is a combination med that I can get due to the fact that I had heart failure at one point in time when I was in a-flutter for a while. My doc says it is the best.

Most people are going to get something like Losartan, Telismartan...

This is a really good reminder. So much so that I scheduled an appointment for Thursday.

49 yrs old, blood pressure meds the past 4 years maybe? I'm kind of a weird case because I had a heart arythmia along with high blood pressure that sent me into heart failure. I've recovered completely from it, but it was a scary experience.

Sounds scary. Glad you got it figured out. I have a couple doctor friends and they advised me to do an ecg and go from there. Gonna start testing it first thing in the am, after work and before bed and get some consistent averages going and go from there.
