The vast majority of the people are fine. Some people like me actually are sensitive to dietary cholesterol.
Whats the consensus on this regarding if this is safe practice or not long term.
My cholesterol is a little wacky so im trying to be careful in how i approach these topics.
Attatched are my blood tests cholesterol levels
Ive done both with no significant change. The vast majority of the people are fine. Some people like me actually are sensitive to dietary cholesterol.
You won't know if you're sensitive to dietary cholesterol unless you do something like go low cholesterol/fat diet for a while, get blood work, then change to a high fat/cholesterol diet and then get tested again after a while of doing that.
Then your fine to eat what you want so long as it meets your macros and other needs.Ive done both with no significant change.
Any comments about where my cholesterol is currently? I have a doc appt but thats not for a fee weeksThen your fine to eat what you want so long as it meets your macros and other needs.
Well, your body fat doesn't appear low (you're not fat, but it's not low). Also, I have no idea what your diet is, and cholesterol is effected by diet even if you aren't sensitive to dietary cholesterol.Any comments about where my cholesterol is currently? I noticed early on with cholesterol testing (been doing it going on 4 years now) that its mainly triglycerides that fluctuate with eating, the others (unless sensitive to it) don't move a ton, I now do it fasting after midnight. The US government took the recommendation off it' website to limit cholesterol to 200 mg/day in 2015 As i remember. Never were many good studies showing eating cholesterol raise levels in most people. I have had low cholesterol all my life. Which can be a negative health factor. I have tried spiking my levels by eating fatty food the day before tests just to see what would happen and i would go up 2 points. Which could be for other reasons as weel.
Over my 35 years of cholesterol testing my triglycerides have fluctuated from 40- 50 range. My total cholesterol from 125-160. On various diets, fats, protein intake, cycles etc.I noticed early on with cholesterol testing (been doing it going on 4 years now) that its mainly triglycerides that fluctuate with eating, the others (unless sensitive to it) don't move a ton, I now do it fasting after midnight.
For sure, you stated you were naturally lower cholesterol producer, to clarify if you eat right before testing say have a fat filled breakfast, you're likely to see triglycerides be the thing that's shot up, if anything. Perhaps not you in particular but that's usually the component that fluctuates the most.Over my 35 years of cholesterol testing my triglycerides have fluctuated from 40- 50 range. As i wrote my triglycerides do not rise noticeably from eating a fatty meal as my last meal. For sure, you stated you were naturally lower cholesterol producer, to clarify if you eat right before testing say eating ith from ingesting fatty meals.
If you really want detailed information you need a NMR LipoProfile.where my cholesterol is currently?
Correct, carbs effect triglycerides far more than fats ever could. I can understand how that might seem counter intuitive to some people. As i wrote my triglycerides do not rise noticeably from eating a fatty meal as my last meal.
I agree about the carbs. I had a buddy that never drank water. He just drank fruit juice. A quart at a time. And he would have triglyceride levels of over 1500 and his Dr was perplexed. Not sure how accurate his numbers were. But he had big health issues all his life. I got him to quit the juice and drink water. And his Dr. was excited when he got his levels down to 400 very quickly.Correct, carbs effect triglycerides far more than fats ever could. Yep. Im about 20%bf rn, took time off from lifting to focus learning boxing technique for several months but now im back lifting and doing cardio. My goal is to get to 205-210lbs which should put me at about 15%bf or so.Well, your body fat doesn't appear low (you're not fat, but it's not low). So all I can say is that your LDL is high and HDL is low, but there's not enough information to be able to comment beyond that.
Exactly. In the majority of people, if you eat less cholesterol, your body will produce more to get to the amount it needs. If you eat more, it'll produce less.Ive done both with no significant change.
This fact leaves me questioning if im capable of running which i want to do tbh. I have another thread on that going on. My ldl levels are “high” but that test range doesnt seem reliable anymore..Exactly. In the majority of people, if you eat less cholesterol, your body will produce more to get to the amount it needs. A few years back, the FDA quietly changed their position on cholesterol. They now no longer consider it nutrient of concern.
