Hey y'all

Here is my situation. I'm just getting back into working out after about 10 years. I was a big fat 250 lbs and living on beer, pizza, and fast food. I lost 60 lbs and mostly cut out the crap food and my gluttonous appetite went away. I feel really good, but don't have much of an appetite anymore. I'm afraid I'm not putting enough calories in to build muscle, and my workouts other then legs, ain't so hot. I'm a simple guy when it comes to food, and don't really cook. Looking for some advice on how to get more calories in even though I don't feel like eating alot of the time. I drink a lot of protein shakes and just bought some healthy cereal to help fill in the gaps.

Thanks

Hi. I'm a big meat and veggie guy. Steak, pork, chicken, potato's , broccoli, corn, beans and all kinds of fruit. Not really a fancy or picky eater.

The thing is, almost all of those foods require cooking unless you can afford to eat out multiple times per day.

Good point. Guess I need to learn to fire up the stove and get busy. I'm just wondering how to get enough calories in when my appetite isn't there. Right now I'm forcing myself to have a second bowl of cereal to fuel me when I lift later

Cream of Rice , Cream of Wheat , Farina , Maypo , Runny Oatmeal with pasturized egg whites added to em , home made soups or stews , curries same thing ... you can drink calories too. Don't just focus on its gota be chewed to be food.

Got the cart in front of the horse. Guessing is a good way to fail so do your TDEE to see what you need. Then an average caloric check with a macro breakdown. Start there.

Can you elaborate on the "I'm a simple guy when it comes to food, and don't really cook."

Sure. I'm not a fancy guy for food, basically meat and potatoes. I can make basic stuff but not a gourmet chef. I do alot of rotisserie chicken and veggies

Build up your calories slowly, just 100-200 at a time.

Switch to more calorie dense food that have the same or smaller volume of the foods that you're eating now.

Eat foods that digest more quickly.

Occasionally swap in rice for potatoes, as potatoes are more filling.

Fish digests much more quickly than red meat, as does chicken.
