Hey yall, so i recently purchased 1ML 1 inch 25g insulin needles. my question to the forum is can i use the same syringe to draw and pin or do i have to get the drawing tips that you can switch out on the syringes? Im a newbie with all of this and I just want to make sure i do things the right way. If i can draw and pin with the same needle that would be great, cant wait to hear your guys' opinion, thanks.

If I was going with insulin syringes I would use I smaller needle diameter. I personally like a 29 gauge 1/2 inch.

But I also don’t care for insulin needles. To dam slow for me. I prefer 1ml lurelok syringes. Then get big 18 gauge to pull with and 29 gauge to inject with. Just what works best for me.

29 gauge is the same on a luerlok and insulin syringe. Unless you mean slow to draw? In which case you can just draw with a regular barrel and backfill the insulin syringe, which is quick to do.

I like slin pins, and backfill my shots like this when the total injection volume is 1ml or less.

If I'm injecting more that 1ml then I draw with a 21g on a luerlok and then swap out to a 27g.

Yes, I was talking about avoiding having to backfill. Easier/faster just to swap out the tips for me.
I understand my way might not be for some and backfilling is the cats meow for them. I just don’t see the point. Simply offering up another option.

It's the same shit, different approach. Both methods are fine, it's just individual preference.

I like the fact that there's no dead zone in slin pins; and therefore zero waste. Also more pressure across a smaller surface area makes it easier to inject some thicker oils. That's probably the only advantages, but you could twist my arm and I could take it or leave it.

I use 28ga x 5/8 slin pins to both draw and inject. I draw an inject with the same one. Never had a problem. I just draw everything while I'm watching TV before I go to bed, so I don't get bored waiting the roughly 1 minute it takes.

I only use larger set ups if I am cycling with lots of volume, like Primo or test prop. Then I use a three ML, 1" x 25 gauge

you CAN use the same needle to pin as you draw with, that is all up to you, BUT I do not recommend pinning with anything larger that 23g, 23-28g will be fine.

get a 3ml or 1ml syringe luer lock style, get your needles separate as you will need a few sizes depending on preference used to pin. Draw with 18-21g and inject with 23-28g by 5/8-1" .

I personally pin with 23g x 5/8, you can use a 1'' in the glute to get deeper in the tissue if needed. I do not have any issues using a 23g to pin in pretty much any of the pin sites, but probably gonna step it back to 25g. Just remember to go slow when injecting.

I do not have this type of patience, lol, I need to draw as fast as fuck!

How do you deal with the oil and scar tissue accumulation after using a slin pin? I even get it w 1” luerlock but it’s far worse with slin pins.

Why would you think that scar tissue would be greater from a smaller needle?

I back load my slin pins if shooting an oil . When doing peptides I just use the same pin to do both I will also pre-load the syringe for a week and just use the same one for 3-4 injects before changing to a new one .

For oils, I don’t mess with small pins. 23g 1” to draw and inject. I also warm my vials in a bowl of warm water before drawing and injecting.

I use the same needle to draw and inject. I don’t switch them. It seems unnecessary and the injection pain is the same either way for me. I don’t mind it at all.

I draw air into the dead space on the 3mil syringes that I use. The last thing that gets injected is the tiny bit of oil in the needle as that air fills in behind it.

According to needle exchange (in australia we get issued free syringes there from gov.) they don't recomend at all drawing with the injecting needle for Any thing but insiline. Steroid needles need deep tissue or you may develop an oil lump on the surface.

That being said most guys I know use a 3ml barrel and exchange drawing tip to injecting. Same gauge as insulin just longer to get deeper plus you can do 3ml at a time if you need to.

If by chance you really do prefer a one ml at a time from a short needle pull the plunger out. Fill barrel by using another drawing harpoon and syringe. Replace plunger clear air from tip and barrel and get her done. No shame in doing it your way.

Just what I've seen. Not medical advice.

Serious question. In all of your years of going to the Dr's, getting immunizations and whatnot, have you EVER seen them switch needles between drawing and injecting? The answer is no, you have not. So...... 🤔

Oh, and many inject their TRT subcutaneously, it does not need to be deep in the muscle. If using a large volume, then yes, go IM to avoid the lump.

I now use the same needle to draw and inject. I no longer swap out tips.

Agreed with never seen a professional swap pins. Never had an immunization injection with a one ml insulin needle either.

Sorry I got you upset cj. Just trying to help op. We all have our own way of doing stuff.
My endocrinologist gives me a box of 100 1ml syringes with exchangeable tips. I use 0.3ml a week. She says it is better for at home injectors to swap from drawing tips to injecting incase I bend or damage injecting pin by drawing with it. Sure you waste a little but the risk of infection decreases by injecting with a new sterile pin. More than once my wife has been about to pin me and drops the lot. Sneezes or coughs. I like the ability so screw on a new tip and let her at it.

Didn't mean to upset u c.j. Just offering how i have seen it done.

I only swap tips if I'm dipping into more than one bottle , I got enough crunchy spots from scar tissue , sharper the better.
