Anyone have resources for this?
What bloodwork should be requested?
What markers should be looked at, specifically?

Women’s hormones are crazy. Big surprise, right?

I was under the impression they could just come off... maybe supplement some dhea if necessary.

I take it your wife wants to come off her hormone replacement therapy?

My understanding is that suppression happens for both men and women, just differently. Production can return on its own, but sometimes it doesn't bounce back all the way.

Good point on the DHEA.

Good point on the DHEA.
women make testosterone in their adrenal glands and a small amount from the ovaries. The suppression is not the same as a mans, where it's intrinsically linked to HPTA. So aside from something like DHEA, I don't know if there's something they can take to help them bounce back.

Other things that might be helpful, but I'm unsure of, would be pregnenolone. HCG could also help, as the ovaries do have leydig cells and respond to LH... however only a very very small amount of test is produced from the ovaries and I believe most is created in the adrenal glands.

I can at least say that women certainly would not want to use a SERM, for obvious reasons.

What Bundy said. My question is why would a woman want to come off of HRT. A cycle, sure, but replacement? Have fun with that brother. Been there, and especially with women's hormones, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Thank me later.

FWIW everyone... The bit that I found is as follows:

When ending a cycle, or HRT in this case, the best practice is to slowly taper dosage until menses returns.
In order to facilitate the hormone production required, supplementing DHEA at 50-100mg per day (oral) is a good way to go.

But yes, ending HRT for women is generally not advised and I will be pushing to have my wife go back to it in the near future.
*We got bloodwork back and her TT and fT levels are better than before she went on HRT. I don't have a good reason other than weight that was lost. Estrogen is not as strong as it was prior to HRT, still well within range though.

not sure if this helps but estrogen for women will vary greatly depending on which phase of their cycle that they are in; follicular, ovulatory, or luteal phase.

Not sure if you already factored that in, but thought I'd mention it just in case.

I did, but it's worth sharing to anyone who isn't aware.
