Finasteride made my hair worse? Pics

So ran finasteride 1 mg for 8 months. On the last two months I lowered dose to .5 mg a day. Ended up stopping it for a little over a month cause I felt like it wasn't doing anything. Recently decided to give it another go. I'm about 4 months in and having a real bad shed right now. Thinking I'm a loss cause. Going to see a hair transplant specialist next week but not even sure there's much they can do for me. Prob just gonna give up and do the ole shave. Wondering if I should drop the fin and see if it gets better.

2nd pic is currently with hair dry. 4 months on fin. Hair looks and feels dead.

3rd pic. Incoming terrible. This is after apply rosemary oil I wanted the hairs to get stuck together so you can get a real good look at scalp. Not sure if there's tiny hairs coming in or not. But shows you really how bad it is. Not sure if there's tiny little hairs growing in you can zoom in and see.

I thought that's how finasteride works... that there is a lot of initial shedding in the first several months. Pic 1 and Pic2 are about what I'd expect with initial shedding. I think pic 3 might be making it look worse than it is due to the oil.

Have you talked to your doctor about the shedding your seeing in finasteride?
