Same here. I think if you got in when Proton was free and you maintained the account it continues to be free.
The charges are incurred if you don't periodically dump the folders/use too much storage.We all should be cleaning out all of the folders frequently.

The desktop app is not free, just bookmark the website. The phone app is free.

There are places and servers I can't use being it's free , some will say upgrade to premium.

Kids built me this for gaming a few years ago for fathers day and keep it updated with new gadgets and what not , I'm not so tech savvy with some things. Computers are basically just magic boxes to me.

I can relate. My employer upgrades to the newest OS any time Microsoft farts loud. Of course they keep moving stuff around with each new version. Then they had us all use Microsoft TEAMS to "streamline" projects and commo.

I told them I can't do my job and sit at a computer waiting for the latest posts. They offered to setup TEAMS notifications on my personal cell. Umm ......no, not going to happen.

I don't need them scrutinizing my browser history, questioning my VPN, wondering about my antivirus software, etc.

I pay nothing for it, so unless they went to pay only service I'm the last to know. I just started about a couple months ago.
I last checked a few days ago.
