Has anyone here ever lifted weights in the cold?

Colder than 32?

Do you feel like it took away from the experience or made it better?

Never had a problem as long as I was bundled up and considered warm. Problems arose when I was getting getting too hot and I had to take clothes off

I run a forced air propane heater in the garage when it’s real cold. Turn it on a few minutes before I get out there and it ain’t bad.

I remember seeing a video years ago of a massive outdoor gym in Ukraine, where it gets quite cold. Guys would be out there in subzero temperatures pumping iron.

When my area cancels public school over single digit temperatures, I think of how most people in the DMV would never make it up where you live.

I have a High Hat heater that puts out about same as my noisy forced air LP heater so I do the same. I can get the 16x24 gym up to 65 from 30 in about 10min.

The only drawback is all that iron is still radiating 30° cold So it gets fired up every now and then during my workout. Also, that concrete never heats up so your feet are always cold

Pro tip for ol man hands - keep the dryer on a quick connect with some duct tape and some extra flexihose , slide the bar in the dryer line and put it on for 15 minutes with no clothes in it ... mmmmm toasty warm  (y)

I put the high hat heater in the squat rack with the bar in it. That works too

I’ve trained in sub-freezing temps before. The biggest challenge is warming up properly - muscles feel tighter, and joints take longer to loosen up. Grip can be an issue too if the weights are cold.
