Hey there! I'm a 26 years old male. I'm 192 cm (6'3.5") tall and weight 75 kg (165.37 lbs). I've always had a skinny body, no matter what I do. Many people tell me they wish they had my body, but I don't know... I've never been a big fan of my lanky shape to be honest. I've never been a physically active person, and nowadays I spend half the day at work sitting in front of a computer, so that's not helpful.

I've tried to change and get the buff of my dreams many times, but always have failed. So I joined the forums to get some help, hopefully get good info and inspiration and get to talk about stuff like this with people. And I do really hope this helps me to reach my objective once and for all.

Welcome to the Underground

Train your body to eat more, slowly build up over time. And train for the body that you want. It'll take time, but if it were easy, everyone would look good.

Hey, thanks for your words. It's definitely not easy. I've been eating unhealthy food for my whole life, full of junk food and no greens whatsoever.

3 years ago, I decided to change that and improve the quality of my diet. That was the first time I tried foods like spinach, broccoli, salmon... I'm not joking. When I felt I was consistent with it, I tried hitting the gym. But I've been failing miserably since then, and when I do, I'm always left with a feeling of failure and that I won't ever be able to achieve it. I then try to get up and try again. It's always the same cycle, there's been a lot of ups and downs these years.

Drop the junk food, all the sauces to make foods taste better 😋

Make sure you have 1 only cheat day where you can eat anything you want Within reason of course.

Get a Macro counter app like Myfitness pal, or similer
Figure out what your macros are for what you wish to accomplish

Grocery shopping - never shop the inside isles.

Get your blood work done to see where all your levels are at, then you have a base to work with

I know you want to jump on gear right away, hence why your here likely. Do not do this until you get yourself headed in the right direction and your bodyfat down. Why? Because your heart cant handle the sudden use of gear so easily and will great a whole other list of stuff you don't want.

Aim for 20%,l bf, best would be 15% and under for bodyfat before any heavy gear.

When you do decide to start keep it simple, like Testosterone Cypionate for example perhaps 100mg per week.
Deca is another option as well and works very well with Test c.

Don't run out and buy from just anyone, take your time do your research and then do some more searching.

Always make sure when you do order you have the right email, also be sure when you reply to an emai it's the email you originally sent to.
Keep an eyes on the spelling of the emails as well, here is one way fraudster will take your cash.
If anyone send you an messages here offering gear be very careful with those, unless you messaged them first.

Start with the trusted sources my own opinion something like napsgear, or domestic-supply , muscleshop are good to go and have allot to offer.

Read the threads there's a ton on this fourm ask the questions. Read, read, read

Good luck, it's a start for now but in this ball game you need a plan not a i don't care im young approach... using gear just isn't for getting girls (though it's a plus perhaps for some) but it's your future your working with hope you get my point.

OK, I'll elaborate why I've failed 3 years from now a bit more. This is perhaps a bit lengthy, so if this would belong to a different thread just let me know.

In 2022 like I said I started to improve my diet. It was the first time I read about carbs, fats and proteins. You have encouraged me to read and I can assure you I enjoy learning new stuff especially if it allows me to understand the inner workings of anything, like the human body.

When I started, I didn't want to count the number of calories and how much of them should come from protein, etc. because I wanted to introduce changes step by step in order not to feel overwhelmed. 3 months later I hit the gym for the first time in my life, and that's when things turned bad. The atmosphere of the gym just didn't feel right. It's like nobody went there to work out. The coach for instance would simply ignore everyone and would spend the whole day looking at the cute chicks running in the threadmill. Yeah, definitely not a good place for a newbie like me. Despite that, I tried for the next 3 months to be consistent and find help thanks to some guys who were kind enough to give me directions.

That year was a difficult one because of the loss of my mother, and when I was able to spend 3 months going to the gym, depression hit very hard and I wasn't enjoying the process, so I simply didn't have the energy to keep trying.

In 2023 I decided to try again. This time, I decided to get help from a nutritionist for the diet. She told me that I had to take 6 meals a day just like you guys said. It was the usual breakfast, lunch and dinner with snacks in between and the post-workout snack. It was a nightmare for me. When I had to take the first snack, my stomach was still full from the breakfast. The nutritionist told me to be patient and not to force myself to do it if I couldn't. She said that over time thanks to the training my body would demand more food. Well, that never happened lol. What would happen is that because I wasn't eating enough, when it was time to train my body couldn't handle it. I went to a different gym, and the coach was very strict. He has a reputation for being very hardcore. I always arrived home extremely exhausted, and in one occasion I got a lower back sprain!!! I was able to stay consistent for 5 months, but once again I felt frustrated and decided to quit. Goodbye healthy diet and physical activity, hello depression my old friend.

In 2024, I decided to try yet again. Went to the same nutritionist because she was quite helpful to be honest. And this time I tried yet again a different gym. The routine I had was quite different this time. I lifted weights just once a week. The exercises were more like calisthenics. I wasn't fond of it, but I gave it a chance anyway. My friends would constantly tell me I was wasting my time but I wouldn't listen to them. And the coach was actually nice!! For the first 4 months everything was good. Then the coach for some reason started to introduce cardio every day, and oh my god was it exhausting. My friends would tell me yet again that I was wasting my time because "ectomorphs shouldn't do a lot of cardio". I'm not an expert and I have no idea if that's true or not. And I don't want to sound harsh but because they have never set foot in a gym and they simply would cite Google I took their words with a grain of salt. Well, same old same old, I felt exhausted and with little energy to keep going.

And here I am, it's 2025 and I'm back at it again. To tell you the truth, I'm considering working out at home instead of trying the gym again. I'm afraid of getting frustrated again. And I won't lie, I'm not a people person so I don't mind if it's a little lonely, I think I would be better off training at home. It's something I'm seriously considering.

Never seen anytime you got a full blood work done? Or did I miss that..
Go get a full blood anylist would be a great start.

Post it here and see what everyone has to say.

My negative thought for you
(nothing personal)
Your negative in thought process, also allot of excuses.

When you go to a gym, it's all you forget everyone else.

You can easily down load apps, plunk in what you want to do and it'll talior work outs for you, with picture, directions, even short video clip on how to.

You don't need a trainer, or listen to the men being pigs. It's all on you actually!

Everything you need is at your figure tips to do and figure out easier then ever before for fitness/excerise etc..

If you disagree then I will point again at your mindset.

I do hope to see your get empowered properly and onto the right track, no one else will do it for you.

Hard gainers have to out work everyone else. I know.

I was into martial arts till 21 and had to get a knee reconstruction. Gym was my rehab and I never went back to martial arts.

21 I was 140 pounds at 5 foot 5. Now I'm 58 and 250 pounds. No body builder. But still see myself as just another big guy in the gym. Not a pro body builder. My genetics suited martial arts. But I'm now a gym rat. Every day I have to eat and train harder than anyone at the gym to be equal. And that is good enough.

Set a goal weight to achieve in a year. 10 pounds heavier is great. Eat and train hard. Look in the mirror more than the scales.

Start a log here. Post pics and tell all. The guys who do logs make my knowledge look like I know nothing. It is also a very supportive culture. I garenteed if you start a log you will succeed. Log guys wont let you down.

i remember having a client once with similar stats like yours... at one point he was eating like 10x a day- workouts where short. we did get him up around 10kg in a year 50/50 muscle vs fat but it is what it is. he was a 100% ecto. foods just went through him and did nothing. it was a rough road. he quit on me me cuz i wasn't ready in my right mind put him on needle. im just not that kind of a coach - i still believe in hard work and regyme. especially at the starting point.

u must want it really bad to start this journey - it's gonna take a while patience and lot of work.

being totally honest - if I would be similar built like that client I would pursue basketball or running or something my body would be built for. not trying to discourage you here just be ready.

I am 6'6. After battling addiction I was arrested oct 2022. Weight 180lbs 1 week after arrest and was probably 175 at the time... Sure I've lifted 25+years and muscle memory plays a part, but here I stand t nearly 40 and 270lbs with the lifts to match. That was all from garbage prison food and ramens. Most hard gainers say they eat alot, but have no idea what alot is.

Brother every one of my days I fucking hate thinking of food. I'm never hungry and always full because I have 1-2 weight gain shakes and 2 protein shakes a day plus 3-4 good meals. It's absolutely redundant and I scowl at every bite I take, but I do it. Know why? Because in this game there is no try... JUST DO.

Same as working 7pm-8am and trying to cram enough sleep in just to have a mean workout a few hours before work tomorrow. That's the recipe. I'm not far from being 40 and I can do it. So I know you can.

3600 Cals a day, 1 gallon water. Protein at 200g a day, carbs at 400g and the rest from fats(preferably healthy) lift heavy 4-5 days a week for 60-90mins. Sleep 7+ hrs a night. That's all there is to it.

Then wake up and repeat over and over and over until you stop gaining... then add more calories , sleep, supplements, sets, weight etc. Progressive overload and patience is a fucking miracle.

Have a good one and welcome to the UG! HOO RAW!

OK I'll get a blood analysis and once I get the results I'll post them here. The last one I had was years ago, a friend of mine who worked in a clinic did them and told me whether things were OK. But he's no longer able to do them. So before getting them, I have a question lol. What exactly do I have to ask them to check? Won't they get suspicious if I ask for something too specific?

And hey, don't worry, I don't take it personal. Your views on me are correct, actually. Like I said I'm considering doing all by myself and working out at home. I considered just going to the gym and forget about everyone too, but I don't think it's going to work. I have failed in every attempt and I simply have no hope. So I would like to try a different approach this time.

What apps do you recommend? You already mentioned MyFitnessPal. Is there another one I should know about?

You just described an ordinary day of my life lol. Except for the shakes. Man, that's insane. Some days I skip dinner and go straight to sleep!!

Well Myfitnesspal is an average app free but if you want indepth stuff then you pay around 20 per month.
All you do is plunk in your age, weight etc etc..
Then whay your after, weight loss, muscle blah blah.
Then it will give you your macros
Protien, carbs, fats broken down daily.

Then you just create your meals, to match those daily macros.

This is very simple, master this and you'll be in a good way.

Theres allot to unpack here and also with what everyone has said above.

The choice is ultimately yours, apps won't make you stronger, lose weight etc.
