I figured I would put this up here for the new lifters and kermits with a few basic questions. This won't be much help to an intermediate or advanced lifter but for new folks it might help some.

Do I need to weigh my food I don’t want to deal with the hassle of counting calories and weighing food

I disagree that you can’t be a vegan bodybuilder. It may even be better for your digestion. In the end food is food.

Should natural lifters train less or more frequently?

No, but you also don't need a map to get to a destination. But it sure helps and makes it easier and quicker.

So you think it’s better to weigh and count?

Depends upon one's goals.

But if you do start to track, it becomes very easy. If you use an app, you can save meals, and we all tend to eat the same meals over and over.

There are other ways to track, besides counting calories and macros. The "hand model" from Precision Nutrition is one such way. It's basically using your hand/fingers to gauge the amount of food you're eating, and adjust as needed.

Training frequency is based off your ability to recover no matter what.

If a natty can train properly and recover I don't see anything wrong with a high freq program.

Thanks yeah I’d better start weighing and counting my food because I have no idea how many calories I’m eating right now. Appreciate your input

Control as much as you can so it is easy to access progress. Food is the first place to control.

Just wanted to say thanks you guys as a natty I was telling myself diet doesn’t matter but I’ve been eating like really badly, and I’m facing up to the reality of that now. Like I would just eat one big meal a day and snack the rest of the day usually with junk food. I’ve been eating more healthy like whole foods / real food as you guys have been recommending and it’s taking a while to get used to the lower calorie density of it, it’s not as immediately satisfying as eating out, but I can tell it’s going to be a lot better for my health and progress if I can eat real food 5-6 meals a day as the dude in the video is saying. I like how he’s keeping it simple. Like I’m not even doing the most basic part lol.

That video is so good. He’s totally right. I had been eating randomly, usually getting DoorDash and stuff, and also getting super into head knowledge and research hah. My problem is I can over intellectualize things but then not actually do it. Like he said it’s not like Phil Heath was reading research articles and stuff. Those guys kept it simple. Even though I don’t eat meat I liked one line in particular he said. He said the if it fits your macros guys are not right. Because you have to eat real unprocessed food, and the way he put it “rice and meat”. I don’t eat meat but I understand what he’s getting at. Since then I’ve been prepping rice, tofu, and broccoli and it’s been pretty damn good, much better than what I have been doing. I have been eating so much processed food. I think it is easier to follow bodybuilding advice when your diet can fit literally what they say, and I made some excuses that since I don’t eat meat that it doesn’t matter anyway what I eat and that’s just simply not true. I plan on mixing up my protein source too with probably tempeh and beans and stuff too not just tofu but I’m already feeling better eating real home made food vs getting DoorDash.

As a natty (trained natty my 1st 38 years of lifting), I never wanted to gain fat, so I kept it at 500-1000 calories over maintenance (for 30 years).
I gained 35 lbs in 30 yrs of lean mass, but most people today arent patient. We had no internet or anabolics anyways in my day (in my area) so we did what we could. I jumped on TRT at age 50 (7 yrs ago) and just maintain that weight (200 lbs)... NO need to over-eat in a big way like teh Pro's. Just look at many of t ehir horrible mid-secions. (Separated ab-walls, etc).
