I'm putting my chips on 15-18%
I don't know, he has abs and decent vascularity in arms. I think the skin might make it look like more than it is. 🤷‍♂️.

Doesn't help that he's 140lbs, makes it harder to guess.

The 140 lbs is why I say the 15-18%. He doesn't have an excessive amount of total fat, but the same is true of muscle tissue, so the percentage of overall weight is greater.

He's be MUCH better served with trying to add muscle tissue vs losing fat.

Well in about six weeks I'll get a DEXA done and we'll see who wins the bet. Of course it will be different then. For the heck of it I'll get another InBody scan right away to see just how much it differs.

For the past 8 weeks I have dropped from 0.95 to 0.5 pounds (average 0.8) per week. My waist size has gone from 31 inches to 28 and my chest from 36 inches to 35 inches. I have not measured my upper thighs but there is much less fat there as well. The love handles and belly fat is noticeably reduced, so I think I have finally managed to get rid of enough fat elsewhere on my body that the abdominal fat is finally shrinking.

Over the same time period, my lifting numbers have gone up, though not dramatically - maybe 0 to 5 pounds per week - with the same number of sets/reps, although as discussed in another thread the rest periods have increased. I can dead lift 295 for sets of 5, squat 285 for sets of 5. Upper not so good with a bench at 160 for sets of 5 and overhead press at 100, seated row at 125. I know these are not big numbers but I have some muscle, hopefully more than a middle school boy by now.

I absolutely want to add muscle. I also know that when I start eating in a surplus there will be some fat increase with that muscle. So I wanted to diet down to be fairly lean so that when the fat comes it won't put me near 20% real soon.

So the plan is to diet for about 7 more weeks to hopefully drop several more pounds, hopefully mostly from my belly. Then get the DEXA as a baseline. Last week of November I have a 1 week vaca planned, so that will be a gym break (after 16 weeks). At that point and through December I'll adjust calories to find maintenance. Then starting in January add 250 a day to see if I can add muscle with a reasonable amount of fat coming back.

I suppose if @CJ is right and I'm at 18% body fat this is a pointless, stupid plan. If @Send0 is right I think its a reasonable plan. I think I'm at about 13% just from looking at various comparison pictures. The loose skin, when I stretch it, makes things seem better. Maybe it's a stupid plan regardless, y'all know more than I about this. I just know what I see on YouTube :ROFLMAO:

Try this experiment, it's what showed me firsthand that those tests are inaccurate...

Get the bodyscan analysis done 3 days in a row, same machine, same conditions, same time of day, etc..

I did, and the results were wildly different.

Oh I believe you, that's why I'm getting the DEXA. I would love to know how they get away with their accuracy claims.

Because there's nobody to hold them accountable. There's no harm being done, so nobody cares.

Look at all the false claims we're bombarded with on a daily basis. It's all marketing, designed to separate you from your money.

I would put you between 11-13%... But it's not like. I think the first test is closer to reality, even though it basically made a lucky guess.

I'm putting my chips on 15-18%

Got the DEXA done ahead of plan because my lifting numbers have stalled and I was wondering if I now have too little body fat to continue increasing without eating more.

So the winner is.....

@Send0 !!!

DEXA said 11.9% overall. So since the DEXA could be off by as much as 3% either way, I guess @CJ could be right as well at his 15% number.

I'm going to get another InBody done real soon just to see if it will make another lucky guess, because it's last guess at 11.3% was a pretty damn good guess.

I'll post the scan in the next message.

I'm getting my first ever dexa done in 3 weeks, I'm pretty sure that I'll have a higher bf% than your test.

I did an inbody for fun at my gym recently. Said I was 8% bodyfat. That seems impossibly low to me but all the other numbers seemed very reasonable.

@Kraken also apparently you have a fat head 😂.

Actually the reason why your head shows 33% bf is because the brain is mostly made of fat. If I recall the brain is made of something like 60% or 70% fat.

Haha the DEXA guy and I were talking about my fat head! I told him my girl can confirm! He didn't mention about why it came out that way, thanks for explaining!

Great plan but can you get insurance to reimburse? I got my Dr. to give me an order with a diagnose of osteoporosis scanning, so I'm cautiously optimistic this scan will be free.

Today I got another InBody scan done, primarily because I wanted to compare it to the DEXA. I was hoping to get them done the same day, but that didn't work out. Close enough.

This scan is remarkably close to the DEXA, with the difference in overall body fat being all of 0.3%. It has differences from the DEXA on the segments, but the two technologies could just define the segments differently.

Its also fairly consistent with the prior InBody scan. The machine is working much better than I expected and it a lot cheaper than the DEXA. I'll be getting a lot of these done, primarily because the woman who runs it is about my age and flaming HOT! We spent some time talking about the technologies, then we spent an hour chatting about surfing and sailing. She also was thrilled I brought her my DEXA to compare.

Fuck it, I'm just gonna ask her out.

Here is the scan...
