Any you guys do ice baths for recovery?

I just took one today after some conditioning.

The way I did it today was a minute in, two minutes out. Then back in for a minute repeated three times.

It’s been a game changer for my sleep at night.

I love ice baths, really is revitalizing and a huge relief when your body just feels worn down.

But be aware it's currently debated whether or not ice helps, or hinders recovery.

The Dr that came up with the RICE recovery method (rest, ice, compression, and elevation) recently came out saying ice might actually be hindering recovery.

Ice baths are great to reduce swelling and reduce pain, but probably don't actually do anything beyond that in terms of recovery

I listen to the power project all the time, those guys are always preaching how great they are.

I use it more as a tool for sleep, which is recovery. Being outside all day, I’ll be sweating in bed. I feel like it brings my core temperature down.

I have heard that the Rice concept is bs. Lol I always believed motion is lotion

I have a unlimited supply of ice this time of year so it doesn’t cost me nothing either.

Yeah it really is a very complicated, multifactorial equation.

Like I said, I love a good icebath just for the sense of well-being and swelling reduction.

Just pointing out that the jury is still out on whether ice directly helps or not.

Do you jump in and out or just tough it out for like 5 minutes lol I’ve done it both ways but idk if one is better

I like to sit in it for a while. I've never tried the plunge.

It seems unlikely that ice baths have enough of a positive effect on recovery, longevity, wellbeing, etc. to warrant a specific "protocol".

That said, if you like 'em, then do 'em whenever.
