My knees are shot after leg day. Usually they ache a few days. Is this normal? I am 49 yrs old.

I wear sbd knee sleeves when I lift. I know I should probably start flossing them again, I haven't done that in a long time. I run low dose deca too rn.

I'm just worried it's the start of some arthritis shit I guess.

With proper warming up and technique you should be ok without medical conditions.

If leverages tend to go forward or bad foot positioning, this will stress the knees.

Do you use any leg machines?

I've found certain machines give me sore knees even with very low amounts of weight on them. Others don't bother me at all.

How's your ankle mobility? Any tightness in low back or hamstrings?

I mainly squat, then I do some leg extension/curl machines. Sometimes I'll throw in some angle leg press after squats.

If your knee joints are sore, but not your muscles, I'd switch exercises.
Both get sore.

I think my ankles are fine. I get some lower back issues from time to time, but I manage it pretty well. I have a few herniated discs, so I've had to learn how to deal with the lower back stuff over the years. My squat form hits my hammies pretty well, but no tightness.
What's your footwear? This could be placing undue stress on your knees.
Nike Metcons or barefoot in socks.
Also, how do you squat? High bar, low bar, narrow stance, wide stance, etc...
High bar, kinda wide stance.

flat sole shoes and make sure your knee don't go over your toes. Try to keep shins in a straight line.

You'll have to sit back spreading the floor with your feet.

Yes Oly lifts are past their toes, I them last as lifter too long either.

Here's an odd question , do you squat or hinge ? some folks use their legs to squat and mentally bend their legs up n down ... I hinge ,, I push my ass back and then forward, which makes me flex my legs down in a sitting motion.

Squatting is like getting up out of a chair or off the toilet with no hands you just push your ass forward your legs more or less assist n brace you up.

Box Squats might help

They will help, just don't collapse or bounce!

I'd rather see a touch and go from him rather than any of the 2 above, a good paused box squat takes time to learn but well worth it.

Good box is also straight up and down, just sat back further, none of this trust forward BS.

If you look back through my log you'll see I had pretty gnarly knee issues. It would take me 20 minutes to warm up and still only be able to train at less than max load.
Now I put quads last on legs days and have been able to progress again. I start with calfs and adductors, then move into hamstrings, and put everything quad related last. I'm also stretching during the rest periods for my first 3-4 movements. By the time I get to leg press or belt squat the shit feels buttery.
I blame the lack of mobility in my ankles but between stretching my feet and calfs I've had months of pain free leg training. The only downside is if you are really trying to blast your quads putting them last could cause the intensity to decline.
