If I think about what I see on social media, I agree with this news piece.

But if I think about what I see at Gold's, I see a very limited amount of this.

Either way, I can definitely see how young guys with very little knowledge about training or nutrition would feel pressured to try steroids.

You’d never know it from the Broccoli Heads at my gym. All of 400 lbs for the 5 of them and they think they’re John Haack doing sets of 125.

But it has also the opposite side. When in my 20s, i saw more students around me starting with steroids and except for two guys who understood the PCT and system, there were others who enjoyed two, three years looking great in their 18-19s and slowly but surely it went bad - probably bad combo, no idea - they looked (and still look) bad subsequently.
So at the end, this scared me of trying it out as I don t understand how i should combine it - so it may have both effects actually.

Definitely a sad story, but unfortunately the guy at the end just sounds like another story where devastated parents want to place the blame on some external factor for why a loved one killed themself. Its all too common for people who are unhappy and dealing with depression to attempt extreme solutions, such as steroids, to try to fix their problems... only to find they dont. Which is when they finally decide to end things, because they're still unhappy. It wasnt the cause though.

The answer to depression and suicidal thoughts is seeking help through counseling and therapy. Or at least reach out to bros like the ones on here!
