Good overall. If I’m around 2500 I actaully prefer it. My maintance is about 3500 though. 2500-3500 I feel best, but still good down to 1800-2500, just some slight hunger at night before bed cause I normally cut my eating early evening, I also sleep best that way. But, I’m about to go to bed so the hunger is no big deal. Sometimes I’ll fast a bit in the am instead of evening, it’s just up to when I’m most hungry.

Training wise it makes my endurance take a hit in heavy lifts, volume needs to be low for me.

Today was a 15 hour work day gone wrong, so by the time we made it to the gym, I was thinking I should’ve just gone tomorrow, but I am also tied up on a project in the AM, and have a family gathering in the evening, so had to get in what I had left in me to do.

Also had an unexpected meal with the in-laws, who luckily eat well. So I had in unexpected meal of grilled chicken, sautéed mushrooms and onions on top with Olive oil, and sautéed green beans. It was good, but pushed my protein and calories high. Could probably use them, but the protein I got in today, I can tell on my stomach just a small bit. Certainly upper threshold for myself.

Reintroduced wide stance squat after a long time not doing them, to work on glute strength. Felt good and smooth, took it easy cause of long day, and wanting to make sure I won’t kill my glutes and groin tomorrow with some DOMS from not doing it in a while.

Todays workout was on a protein fast. No calories other than protein, by the time I worked out I was 24 hours fasted. So obviously lifts were down a tad. It’s actually part of a hippie dippie liver detox my wife and I are doing, that I always feel great after.

That's a crazy amount of weight to push with no "fuel" whatsoever. 😮
Well, 5 years or so back I was more into intermittent fasting and long fasts. Not even protein fasts, but just fasting like everyone else was on board doing then.

I still do occasional plain Jane water fasts here and there, I do think
Occasionally it’s good for your health. Like maybe 3 times a year.

I learned I can workout pretty hard, just run out of gas pretty quick. Kinda understandable.

Same way on keto diet, I can workout pretty hard, harder than a fast, but still run out of juice quick.

Obviously, having carbs is most ideal.

But, my body did seem to learn to snap into ketosis real quick without much issue. I didn’t test yesterday, but I could tell I was by the smell of my pee😂. So that helps me a lot in my workouts.

My poor wife on the other hand, looked like she was on her last two sets of the workout, but was only her second set in. Just staring at the wall with empty eyes……. Hahaha.

Currently, I haven’t eaten since 8pm Thursday. I’ll eat at lunch tomorrow. But this is nothing to Eazy…..

I gravitate forward low carb high fat. Right now, high calories, so kinda high everything.

My typical fat sources are also my protein sources. eggs, 80/20 ground beef, steak, fish, vegetables cooked in butter, cook a lot with olive oil or avacado oil.

I don’t like super high carb. I get tired on and off all day, and feel like trash. For me now, that’s more than 300 grams of carbs a day consistently. One day at 400-500 and I’m fine. It’s like I absorb all the glucose my muscles can handle, and once I can no longer keep it depleted somewhat, I start crashing and feeling bad. I can eat fat all day and do great. That gallbladder down there is just a hummin along haha.

I know butter is controversial. I think it’s wrongly demonized. Better than olive oil? Nah probably not. Need to have it by the pounds? Nah probably not. Better than canola oil and processed cheap vegetable oil? I’d say heck yea. I’ll cook in lard before using that. Another thing I feel is wrongly demonized, but maybe not a top teir fat source. I’m plenty ok with being wrong about that too. But yea man delicious, absolutely. Trying to justify it? Maybe a little. Just trying to be fair.

I appreciate it man. I actually feel my back might be a little disportionally built compared to my front side. Not a horrible problem, and it’s helps me out in my line of work. I just connect extremely well to it. My traps grow nicely and I rarely do any direct work
For them.


Sometime I try to bring the best of both world to the bedroom with my wife. Butter and……..


She’s not so down with that.
