One caveat here...if you have kidney stones or a tendency to accumulate them, you should consult with your doctor as to the maximum protein to take. I had an operation in 2022 to take out about 30. The operation was easy, but the infection after was not.

Well, if you have increased your water intake, you might not have to go through the operation. I have seen many of my relatives having the same problem and they come out of it by just drinking more and more water.

That is also essential.

Drinking the 96 ounces is hard for me though.

I just skimmed through this thread. Some of it went over my head. But it sounds like the safest bet is to keep fat at a bare minimum and you can pretty much crank up carbs and protein as high as you want with very little chance of fat gain?

No, that's really not what it says.

Our bodies will still store surplus calories, it's just more efficient for them to store the fat that we eat as bodyfat since it's already, you know, fat. If you eat a lower fat diet, the body will just ramp up using carbs as fuel.

The body is very adaptive, you're not going to find a way out of getting fat while overeating.

Dropped 60lbs on keto , never counted a calorie during that time , was not doing cardio or working out heavy.

I ate like a fucking monster during that time, 5lbs of shrimp in a day, burgers with cheese , chiccarones , anything protein got shoved down the grocery hole as fast as I could due to the fact I was always hungry.

My maintenance cals now with all I do is 3270 ... I was eating way more than that while "dieting"

Before I was of the opinion that it couldn't hurt to consume more, and that it possibly might help.

I've now shifted slightly to, a little more is better, but make sure you at least hit that 1g/lb.

Looking back at my own person data, I've usually been in the 1.25-1.35 g/lb range, anyway, so it's not going to change the way I eat, but rather what I recommend to others.

I've always believed a 1g/lb is the minimum and if you're dieting I would take it up a notch. I like to sit at 1.25'ish g/lbs and that's good for me. Once upon a time I was a 1.5+gr/lb fan but realized that it's overkill and the extra Kcal could be better utilized in carbs for my training/ recovery so I dialed it back and I find it easier to stay lean, full, and keep pushing my training.

What I used to think was plenty for protein intake, 1 gram per lb of bodyweight, I now think should be the minimum, based upon newer research.

Give this a watch, let me know what you think...

you really only need 0.8 at max

So now you're a bigger expert than Milo Wolf? The question is rhetorical, because no you're not.

You're clearly at the peak of the dunning Kruger effect. You'd serve yourself well by sitting back and actually listening to people instead of trying to give bad advice, like what you've done here.
