Hello I'm a 37 year old soon to be 38 year old. I've been off and on lifting for the last 2 years but got serious with my lifting / healthy lifestyle last 3-4 months. I am 5'11 (why do ppl always lie and say 6 ft lmao) and weigh around 190-195lb. My usual training is 5 days a week (Chest, Back, Arms, Shoulders, Legs). I try to walk 8-10k steps everyday, I dunno I read that's "good cardio" for you. My bodyfat % is anywhere between 18.5-20% . Currently I take creatine everyday and try to eat around 170-190 grams of protein a day (mix of red meats/chicken/protein powder).

I'm trying to get lean while also being muscular, not sure if that makes sense. My hallelujah weight would be 175-180lb while still retaining my muscle. I'm not a body builder and I do not want to get big (super bulky) by being on gear. I've never been on gear and would like to try a cycle. I got my blood work back and my Testosterone Total is about 3.65 ng/mL which my doctor tells me is fine but I do think that's on the lower side.

Any tips/helpful recommendations would be welcomed.

All of these start the same “ I want to lean and muscular”

Welcome to the forum, steroids aren’t going to help you loose weight. Diet will

Hard to tell from a shoulder pic but I'm guessing you are under 20% bf. Unless u have a little sugar belly we can't see. Not sure what you hope to learn but I'm sure it is here. All the best with your progress and I hope you stay true to your statement of not needing gear.
So many say that in intro then looking for gear is their first search. I think that is what an earlier post suggested. I'm sure that isn't you. So find yourself brousing nutrician and training advice and b4 you know it you will have all your answers.
If there is one thing ugbb has it is experts in training and nutrician. You cant go wrong here.
Welcome.

Thanks for the welcome. I should of been more clear. I dont' want to get to the size of an IFBB Pro. I don't mind bulking up and looking/getting stronger. Definitely will be hitting the diet harder as well.

why?

all of your goals are easily obtainable without it.

btw welcome.
I think the reason why I'm leaning towards taking gear for the first time is b/c of my age and total testosterone levels being on the lower side.

Hope you don't get offended by my poor attempt at sarcasm. But at your age 38 years old forget about gear. Think about a nice plot and headstone. You are so old forget the future and getting huge. At best you may only have 5 years of life left.
Now less sarcasm. Trt is more where people should look for these concerns at your age. No idea where you live but a doctor is a starting place for trt concerns not a forum about body building.
Some countries have clinics. But not mine so cant comment. At 50 I went on trt. Through the doctors and specialists not on my own. Doing it yourself is like trying to fix your car without being a mechanic.
That is just an opinion. I'm sure others will tell you the opposite. So sum up all the advice and make your own choices. Everyone here will agree never listen to rickt. But if it made you smile im better off.
Thanks for your time. Nice to see you are still here.

Welcome to the Underground.

If you are looking to get on TRT for quality of life/optimization, then fine, have that discussion with your Dr or other qualified individual.

Your stated goal however, does not require the need for using anabolics. So therefore I'd advise against running a cycle, as you could worsen your current testosterone levels.

All you need to achieve your goal is an intelligent training program, proper nutrition, a healthy lifestyle, and some time.

Thank you for the welcome and the insight. Could you let me know what goals would be in line with running a cycle? From what I've read / watched, it seems that TRT alone can only get you up to a level that matches with age. Where with anabolics, it pushes your levels higher to get bigger/faster gains. Obviously with working out/dieting.

Your stated goal is to LOSE about 15 lbs of fat. Anabolic steroids are just that... Anabolic. They make things bigger. They are not fat loss agents.

Proper diet and training is what you need.

Don't be one of these lazy fukkers who's always looking for a shortcut. Just put in the work and you'll EASILY reach your goal.

To be honest, your goal is a rather small task. If you can't do it without drugs, then the problem is YOU.

haha definitely not lazy. working out 5 times a day and dieting as well. trying to learn what can help boost it / accelerate it with my age. for dieting alone, I do intermittent fasting 4-5 days a week , no alcohol , etc. I would like to lose 10-15lbs but also gain muscle. if those two things can't work together. I'm trying to learn how to lose body fat while getting bigger/stronger as well.

Why are you working out 5 times per day?

Why do you practice intermittent fasting? What's your feeding window?

Working out 5 times a day? I don't even know how that's achievable. 😂

Post up an example what a day of training looks like for you, as well as a detailed list of what your meals in a day look like.

haha meant 5 times a week. my training is fairly simple: chest, back, arms, shoulders, legs . 2 days rest (some light walking)

my feeding window is between 2pm and 7pm. I do try to get 16 hours to 18 hours if possible. I practice the IT b/c I do feel like I have more energy. It also stops me from eating throughout the day/pushing my insulin levels up.

Again, post up an example of one of your training days. Include all exercises, sets, intensity techniques (if used), etc. etc.

Same for diet; post up all the meals that make up a day of eating for you. List all ingredients in grams or ounces, provide macros (protein, carbs, fat), and total calories in each meal.
