Recent change of work status, I lost my health insurance. I do have VA Healthcare, which is what it.
This past year, at 45 years old, I was diagnosed (private sector, two different providers confirming dx) with ADHD and prescribed Ritalin. This unlocked something. One, the mental and emotional insight, seeing failures over the past 40 years and finally 'getting it'. The medication is near magic to me, improving mood, cognitive ability, social anxiety. Mentally, since on this,I have been doing the best I have EVER been.
Now the downside. VA doesn't really like my diagnosis, and won't give it much mind, as I didn't have it while on duty, and it is hard to service connect. They want to push PTSD, depression and anxiety, won't hear me when I say ADHD is the root concern. Also, VA policy is not to prescribe ritalin if there is other substance use, and like Snoop Dog and Martha Stuart, I smoke weed every day. Those fuckers. I left the Army physically broken, and hooked on pain meds. The VA continued to push those meds until I stopped them, then prescribed me cannabis. Now, I can't get a med that helps me tremendously, because I consume cannabis.
Anyway, long story short... anybody recommend an online ADHD clinic, specifically that prescribes? Will be paying cash, no insurance. We'll bash the VA later, now I'm just trying to see a prescribing doctor who will see me .
Thank you.
