CMP, urine tests like a UACR, an actual measured GFR (mGFR) vs. the GFR in a metabolic panel which is a calculated GFR. Imaging (utrasound). There's probably more, but as CJ said, your CMP will indicate the need for further testing and should suffice. There are a lot of things that can skew bloodwork. High protein diet will elevate BUN, supplementing with creatine will elevate your serum creatinine and that's reflected in a lower GFR. Certain meds like diuretics will affect results. My BUN is always elevated some from diet, and my GFR always come back <60 (renal failure) ever since I started on HCTZ for BP. Nothing to worry about.Your basic CMP will have several tests that can indicate the need for further testing; Creatinine, BUN, eGFR, sodium and potassium, etc...
Maybe @BRICKS can help out here.
My creatinine always comes back at 1.45 - 1.60 so I have been in renal failure for at least the last 30 years. lolMy BUN is always elevated some from diet, and my GFR always come back <60 (renal failure) ever since I started on HCTZ for BP. Nothing to worry about.
