I'm not talking about the scientific stuff. I'm talking about that one thing you do in your mind that helps you make it happen?
For example, when I do chest movements, I imagine a wire going from the outside of each peck pulling them toward one another to help me feel the contraction. That's my main thing that I do for all muscle groups.
I haven't been able to master that connection with my back yet, though. I get a decent enough pump, but I don't feel the movements the way I do in other body parts.
What are the things you do in your mind to help you get that connection? Your own personal secret sauce, if you will.

Close my eyes and really focus on the muscle I'm trying to target.

That, and repeating cues in my head. For example, with rear delts I'm telling myself, "out, not back".

I do a lengthy warm up to get the target muscle full of blood b4 I even start. Much easier for me to get a connection when I’m already full of blood. I’m careful to not cause fatigue during this warm up. Get full of blood is my only goal.

Then I got straight to working sets and bypass any additional warm ups. Just what works for me

That's a good one.
