Hunter Biden has been convicted of all three felony charges related to the purchase of a revolver in 2018 when, prosecutors argued, the president’s son lied on a mandatory gun-purchase form by saying he was not illegally using or addicted to drugs.

Jurors found Hunter Biden guilty of lying to a federally licensed gun dealer, making a false claim on the application by saying he was not a drug user and illegally having the gun for 11 days.

He stared straight ahead and showed little emotion as the verdict was read. After the verdict, he patted his defense attorney on the shoulder.

He faces up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced by Judge Maryellen Noreika, though first-time offenders do not get anywhere near the maximum, and it’s unclear whether she would give him time behind bars.

I had some life shit happen

My mother passed away unexpectedly and suddenly back in February and I was dealing with family issues and stuff
I lost my mother 3 years ago and my dad last January. Now they live through you and the rest of your family.

You have my condolences.

Do you think more states will follow? Or will some of these states reverse this ban?

With so many are pushing to win votes any way they can and a supreme court that's moving in a christofascist direction I'd expect more.

They can't really fully reverse course otherwise their argument that they're doing it "for the children" is revealed to be the sham that it is.

What will likely happen is they'll double down and "compromise" by fine tuning how invasive the age verification needs so some sites may be persuaded into operating within the confined limits. The people who clawed back a tiny bit of the freedom they lost will accept "it's either this or nothing".

It's a double win for the politicians. Win the vote of the pearl clutchers who wanted the age verification laws and again when the porn watchers claw back a tiny bit of ground.

Happens every day. Lose a mile, gain a couple feet back and claim it's a win while losing sight of how much is still lost. That's propaganda at it's finest.

Well I, for one, would never consider uploading to Pornhub the credentials of the congressmen in me state who enacted these laws...and I certainly wouldn't advise anyone else to do the same in their state.

I wonder why Louisiana is exempt from this when every state around it is affected.
Maybe something to do with this?

These laws not only affect the people that live in these states, it also affects anyone whos internet traffic is routed through one of the affected states.

Ever have your computer/phone constantly think you're in a different location? Hope it doesn't think you're in one of those 12 states with age verification laws otherwise it's blocked for you too regardless of where you physically reside.

The puritans are winning. First they go after abortion, next is contraception, and now they don't want you to jack off. When will it stop?

Bodies are fuel for the machine.
Every move mentioned will result in population growth and thus more workers to exploit and more new soldiers for the war machine.

For over a hundred years scholars have written about this and the tools/methods the ruling class use to exploit populations.

A higher ratio of workers to available jobs is a tool employers use to drive down wages and increase poverty. Its a way to force dependence on the hand that feeds.

It's not new and it's well published but there are very strategic reasons why there is a drive to increase population and decrease education.

why would anyone prohibit pornhub??? we have it allowed even in our office :)
Anyway, the political scene is becoming crazy all over the world, especially the effect of polarization.
I guess it's time to keep a land on the other side of the world in some dead area

It's just political virtue signaling, just another "think of the children" pearl clutching topic. Politicians need to create an enemy to unite their voting base particularly in an election year. Porn is an easy target in that no one (or few perhaps) on any political spectrum is going to publicly take Pornhub's side.

In other unrelated news, shares of NordVPN are skyrocketing.

What places have you thought about?
One was Belize, as the country is corrupt, but no tendencies for dictatorships and it's such a periphery that big countries don't care, so good safe haven. I generally like it there and easy to get to Mexico.
Second - smaller countries are generally ok as they don't get involved into conflicts much. I like Malaysia now, they are relatively nice people, language is easier to learn that the others around and they still allow foreigners to own a real estate.
UAE is bit overcrowded and tbh, I don't find much perspective in desert for the future.
But there are many more, maybe you have some on your mind?

I honestly know very little about Belize, but I used to have a friend from there and he would go back at least once per year. He had a lot of family there and joked with me that it was "mini Brazil".

So you've been there before?

UAE is bit overcrowded and tbh, I don't find much perspective in desert for the future.

What about the less famous, more traditional parts of the Emirates?

I have heard that Fujairah is like a different world from Dubai and Abu Dhabi and gets very few tourists. There's also Oman nearby, although you definitely can't buy land there from what I know.

But there are many more, maybe you have some on your mind?

The first places that popped into my mind were countries deep in South America. Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina outside of the tourist areas. These are countries with vast rural areas and people who live a traditional lifestyle. Uruguay in particular makes it very easy for foreigners to buy land.

Someone I know has been encouraging me to spend time in Egypt. That interests me more than South America. They also allow foreigners to buy land. But the political situation there can be unpredictable of course.
