From today guys. I had my sigmoidoscopy and they sent moderate to severe swelling on the whole bowel. Had updated bloods and waiting for whatever treatment they advise. Still got out and did a 6KM run and a push session after. Current look after fasting for the procedure and being a little run ragged:

Hi chaps. The IBD doctors want to put me on biologics (Infliximab) infusions to control my flare ups. Bit nervous about it TBH as it’s pretty much a lifelong commitment. Anybody been on similar medication before? Any feedback? Folk on Reddit talk as if it’s a game changer but they seem much further on in terms of symptoms than I am. I’m not bed ridden, I train twice a day and felt fine other than this month. 🫠

Inbody sales rep came in to the gym trying to sell them their new super duper accurate body fat measuring scales. I was used as the guinea pig. Safe to say, they aren’t so accurate.

Go pnp for a little bit teddy you'll lose a ton of bf
I’m kidding. Emphasizing machine inaccuracy. I know that is beyond emaciated.
I’m already a sweaty person, I wouldn’t subject myself or the people around me to a more miserable version of myself.

A shredded version has always been tempting though.

I finalised a little sponsorship with Dorian Yates nutrition today BTW so I’ve been able to order a load of goodies to try. I’ve got some hydrolysed whey coming so I can see if it helps at all versus regular isolate for my sensitive gut. 🙏 Maybe I’ll get to meet The Shadow one day if all goes well, that’d be cool.

Oh and I’m changing my cardio routine going forward to include 3 x outdoor runs weekly so I can improve my speed and distance in preparation for the event I’m doing in October. Got a 5-miler in the bag this week!

Few recents I don’t think I posted:

In the hospital folks. 😱

I’d been on a flare up for 2 months straight and got a stomach bug on top and was on the decline. I was going to continue trying to power through and naively expect it to sort itself out on its own accord but my family could see I was wasn’t good and called an ambulance without my consent. So I’ve been in as an inpatient for 36 hours so far. Probably for the best.

Currently on hydrocortisone injections every 4 hours to help bring down/control the inflammation in my bowel and then codeine/paracetamol to stave off the cramps. Oh and IV fluids as the regular bathroom trips had me a little dehydrated.

Already feeling much better and call tell the hydrocortisone has taken the edge off the inflammation. Waiting for a bed to become available on the gastro unit now (just on a general ward) and hoping to be put on Infliximab once I’m there which will be my long term solution if it’s successful to prevent any further flare ups.

Been a bumpy road and super frustrating after training had been going so well but feel like I’m on the mend now so better times to come. 🙏

Damn man, that sucks. Get yourself better first that's what's really important.

That’s the plan mate. IV steroids have made a huge difference almost immediately and the hope is that I can get my first biologics infusion before I leave this place and then I can have a little peace of mind knowing I’ll spend a good amount of time in remission. 🙏
