When was "This member limits who may view their full profile" added?

I am curious why some members have either blocked viewing of their profile or the ability to look past posting to the general membership ...

I do not remember this feature being available 2021 or earlier.

It seems like a way of hiding from their posting history ...

I'd recommend terminating this feature ... I am curious if other members have noticed this feature and that more and more members are using it?

I saw it. Don’t really care for it. Not sure the point of it

It's annoying as all hell as a moderator, but I've found a work around.

This feature should not be there, in my opinion. Especially when it blocks a mod from seeing activity.

I'd be very interested in hearing from members who have enabled this feature ... why .. I believe that anyone who has enabled it should be relegated to "Green or Guest" status .. I can think of no legitimate reason for blocking posting history or profile access to be restricted ...

But once one person does it ... the sheep bahhh bahhh bahhh follow them ...

There have been trolls here that use people's profiles and posting history to shitpost. That's the only reason why I have mine set that way. If you logged in and had over 100 different PMs to sift thru from multiple accounts all created by the same fucking loser, you'd understand.

It's a simple explanation and it sucks to have to do that.

I've been here practically since the beginning of SI and have experienced pretty much everything ... and that has never prompted me to hide my posting history or profile ...

It makes legitimate research of someone posting absolute non-sense more difficult ... and for me it calls into question the person who has done it ...

Of course, like with everything I understand there are people who may not agree which was the purpose of this post ... even though I do not agree with your reasoning .. thank you for your response ...

Yes, I've seen one work-a-round by using the search function by date ... but what a hassle ... that only allows 10 pages at a time before changing date criteria ...

I could be wrong but I think it works off the "follow" and once you follow some one they can see all your stuff again an vice versa ,, instead of freaking out over people enjoying a small amount of privacy for what ever reason simply ask them to follow you ,,, why just creep around and spy on folks ?

So your permission is required .... for me to research your previous posts ... having to ask permission is the WRONG STANDARD ... which is why very smart people above your post disagree ...

People often misunderstand privacy .. this is a public anonymous forum - the need to request permission for people's public posting seems contrary to the actual forum purpose which has been to help people learn and contribute to the bodybuilding / powerlifting - training - diet - lifestyle ... this forum operated for 10 year without this feature ... and as I've said previously it was FAR BETTER than now ... I have pointed towards the influx of members who left MESO but perhaps it is more like features such as this that have reduced the overall forum quality as people can now literally hide from their post history and only give permission to those who they deem worthy ... that is a recipe for fucking disaster ...

Considering the forum is completely anonymous this feature is in no way enhancing your privacy ... it simply makes it more difficult to see what you've posted previously ... which in your case @Andrewgen_Receptors is unfortunate as your log and other posts would provide considerable value to those doing research ...

No such thing as completely anonymous on the internet. You use a lot of absolutes in situations where they really do not apply; not trying to criticize, just pointing out that it's low hanging fruit.

I've titled pretty much all my logs and important threads the same, where they contain my actual username. I don't think my post history on this site is more valuable than that of @RiR0 @DLTBB @MJR @eazy @TomJ @1bigun11 @BigBaldBeardGuy or a bunch of others on this site (I'm still new here, not yet familiar with other accounts worthy of following). Hell, I'm following in their footsteps most of the time (kind of).
I actually don't think my advice would even bring anything unique to the table from what they're saying - I'm literally trying to follow their advice most of the time.

IDK why others would follow my advice over any of theirs to be honest, but I've made my stuff important threads pretty easily searchable - in case someone wants to follow along.

I stated this above in response to CJ's post ... and for members who have been here more than 10 minutes 10 pages is a joke ... many old timers (like me) have dozens if not hundreds of pages ... just saying that is at best a lame work-a-round .. basically destroying the privacy argument ... because that basically says ... privacy is just an excuse .. I want you to have to work for seeing my posts 10 pages and a time ... or get on your knees and beg for permission ... which is equally nonsense from my perspective .....
