I'm wondering if y'all have wives, or girl friends (or both maybe) who have low test. My girl has been very tired for some time now. I finally convinced her to get her Dr. to check her test and estrogen. Her test is pretty much nil, and her Dr. started her on progesterone, saying that will boost her test. I know nothing about this stuff as it applies to women, and I'm hoping some of you may. I'm curious what others have experienced.

First, tell me it isn't a general practitioner/ family practice doc doing this. Proper HRT needs to adress estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and thyroid. Mrs.BRICKS was using a compounded med sublingually to replace estrogen, test, and progesterone. That wasn't cutting it and she now takes estrogen and progesterone orally and injectable test cyp. She sees someone who specializes in TRT/HRT. She fired her old family practice doc when she told she need some hormone replacement and her doc told her a) well, we could put you on bc pills and b) women don't need testosterone. Of your partner's test is in the shitter she needs test. Of her other hormones are low, she needs those.

My gf has test pellets from her doc
All her other hormones were good but her test was zero. It’s been 6 weeks and haven’t noticed anything diff in her but her tits got smaller lol.

I know my mom takes a blend of stuff
Not sure what. But it drastically changed her mood whatever it was. I can stand to be around my mother now before she got HRT
I couldn’t do it lol she was brutal

@BRICKS this was her GYN. A few days ago she went to see a new GP and this guy was very sympathetic. He told her he didn't expect the progesterone and estrogen pills to do anything for her test. Her T3 and T4 is all well within normal range. He told her to try the pills for a month and if that didn't work he would give her a cream. He even knew enough to tell her that for men, the cream does not work well as a delivery system but as a woman he can probably make it work for her.

This is all good news I think, if she can get what she needs without regular injections that would be great. But she is not giving up, she'll stay on top of the doctors until she feels better.

Absorption topically is going to be even more unreliable than the sublingual compounded meds. The most reliable and consistent absorption, and thus blood levels is going to be from injectable test. 0.1 ml subcutaneous test cyp (20mg) once a week with a slin pin and a 29 or 30 guage needle isn't even a mosquito bite and she's going to absorb all of that test and have a steady level. Good luck, hopefully you get her leveled out and she feels better. Mrs. BRICKS wasn't thrilled with the idea of shots but we're on week 6 of having switched over and for the last 3 or 4 weeks she's the one who comes to me and sais "hey, it's Wed, give me my shot".

Great help, thanks @BRICKS !! The Dr. said he was concerned about giving her too much, but I don't see how a cream vs injections mitigate that. Good point about consistency.

The problem with the cream would be not enough and inconsistent levels are gonna be worse then too little or too much. You cant give too much with an injection unless it's intentional. Check levels 8 weeks in, if it's too high then give less. How do you regulate that with the cream. When you don't know how much is absorbed to begin with. Labs and her response will tell you how much is too much. Normal range for Mrs. BRICKS, 56 years old post menopausal, is 8-60. Her HRT specialist wants her at 200 for her lifestyle, and he knows his shit. So, lots of leeway in there. If she starts showing signed of unwanted virilism, we would dial it down some.

I was just telling my girl about the inconsistency with creams and she is fine wit the slin pin. Does 20mg keep Mrs. BRICKS in her normal range or at 200? My girl is 50, not yet post menopausal but she is just starting that.

Not sure yet, we're 6 weeks into it, she'll get labs at 8 weeks and we'll see. When she was on the sublingual estrogen/progesterone/test she was getting symptomatic, hot flashes, shitty sleep, depressed mood, etc. In the past six weeks in the oral and injectable test that's all resolved. It sucks cause hormones are slow movers, takes a while to get where you want to be. We'll see what her labs look like in a couple weeks and I'll update you. You and your girlfriend are going to be a lot happier going that route.

I’m curious about solo test for women premenopausal and how it may effect their period and shedding of the uterus wall. I’ve heard a lot say progesterone should be supplemented along with it to keep things in check. But I would think that would be only the case if it became or is low.

Anyone know about this?

My wife is on trt and straight t3 prescribed. Everything has seemed good but curious about this

So as an update, my girl has tried the cream and after some time of it, her labs actually showed less test than before she started the cream. Both her doctors agree she needs test, both agree the cream didn't work for her. Neither will prescribe injections or even pellets.

They have told her to go to a clinic. There are clinics for women here, but like the clinics for men, they are quite expensive. This is super frustrating.

Ask the Dr, off the record, what a common starting Test injection dose for her would be. Do self TRT.

I suggested that, she does not want to do it. She is convinced that women are much more complex than men, she'll need testing every 3 months, constant monitoring... I don't know much about how this works in women so I'm not anxious to argue the point.

Yeah, both him and her female GYN. That's what is so frustrating; they both agree she needs the test, they are balking over the delivery system. They will do cream, but for pellets or injections, nope.

Well we have three friends, two female and one male, who use pellets and are very happy with them. Still, I'm with you, I have read up on pellets and am not impressed. I would think injections for the amount she needs should be easy. I would think a slin pin at 5ml x twice weekly would do the trick.

More like 0.1 mls/week if it's 200 mg/ml

You stay away from her injections!!! 😂
